The MBTA Red Line and Commuter Rail stop at the JFK/UMass Station where a free shuttle bus will take you to campus. Check the MBTA website for schedules, fares, etc.

Campus Closures

To see if UMass has been closed for inclement weather, call 617-287-5000. There will be a recorded message if the campus is closed. The university administration tries to reach a decision on class cancellation by 4:00 pm for evening courses.

Campus Escort Service

The Public Safety office offers a free escort service to your car or the shuttlebus stop. Call 7-7799 from any inhouse phone (beige phones located at each elevator bank), or 617-287-7799 from your cell phone to request an escort. You do not need to give a reason, just give your name and location and an officer will meet you. Try to call before you need the escort so you won't have to wait as long.

Campus Emergency Phone Numbers

Campus Emergencies: call 911 from any inhouse phone to reach campus police. If you have a cell phone, dial 617-287-1212 to reach the UMB campus police. (If you call 911 from a cell phone, you will reach the main Boston 911 office, and they will call campus police. It is faster to call campus police
